With the March 7 jobs report in our rearview mirror, it’s worth asking just what do the numbers mean? The news was mixed. The good: job creation beat economists’ predictions at 175,000 (vs. predictions of 149,000). The bad: the unemployment rate edged up from 6.6% to 6.7%.
